We know that photovoltaic aluminum frames are all 6-series aluminum alloys. At the beginning, most of the frames were made of 6063-T5 material. This kind of aluminum profile is particularly common because of its strong plasticity, easy extrusion production, corrosion resistance and good tensile strength. The photovoltaic support is generally made of 6005 aluminum alloy, which has higher strength and is very suitable for structural parts.
Although both 6005 and 6063 are aluminum magnesium silicon alloys, the content of alloy components is different. The silicon (SI) content of 6005 is higher than 6063, and the magnesium (Mg) content is lower than 6063. Therefore, the hardness of 6063 is lower than 6005.
As the solar panel becomes larger and larger, and the cost is reduced, the frame becomes smaller and thinner, which will increase the hardness and tensile strength of the frame of the photovoltaic module. The hardness of 6063 material can only be ≥ 12HW, which can’t meet the demand. Therefore, the frame of 6005 photovoltaic module is shining. The hardness of 6005 frame can be ≥ 14HW, and the tensile strength is also higher.
Because the hardness of 6005 is relatively high and the extrusion is difficult, the production cost is also higher than that of 6063 aluminum profile. However, the cost of the battery panel per unit area has been reduced. At present, 6063 and 6005 photovoltaic aluminum frames are in use, and can also be selected according to the needs of customers.
